Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research was established as a Faculty Journal in 2016 and started its publication activities once a year. The journal includes publications with national and international scientific qualifications, mostly focused on the field of tourism. Since 2021, the Journal has been published twice a year (June-December) and is an independent, double-blind peer-reviewed, open access and online journal. It has a quality that includes studies prepared mainly in the main field of tourism (Tourism Management, Travel Management and Tourism Guidance, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Recreation Management) and contributes to the sector theoretically and practically. Theoretical and applied research, survey-review, paper, case study, short report and letter to the editor in these fields are published after blind peer review and a decision is made that they are publishable.

The journal publishes national and international scientific publications with a focus on the field of tourism. Since 2021, the Journal has been published twice a year (June-December) and is an independent, double-blind peer-reviewed, open access and online journal. It has a quality that includes studies prepared mainly in the main field of tourism (Tourism Management, Travel Management and Tourism Guidance, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Recreation Management) and contributes to the sector in theoretical and practical terms.

Our Journal
- It does not accept more than one study application from one author in the same semester.
- Late article submissions (no later than the first week of May for the June issue and no later than the first week of November for the December issue) are not accepted.

SPELLING RULES
Articles to be submitted to Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research should be prepared in accordance with the "Editorial Guidelines" presented below.
PAGE LAYOUT
Manuscript files should only be submitted in Microsoft Word format. A4 should be selected as paper type. Page layout (spacing) of the sections; "top: 2.5 cm", "bottom: 2.5 cm", "right: 2.5 cm", "left: 2.5 cm", "indent left: 0 cm", "indent right: 0 cm", "special: none".
ARTICLE LENGTH
Articles should not exceed 10000 words and should be prepared in a maximum of 25 pages. This article length includes the entire text including references and appendices, if any.
TYPE OF ARTICLE
Manuscripts should be written in Times New Roman, 11 font size, 1.15 spacing, aligned on both sides, and no page numbers should be given. Paragraph spacing should be before=0 pt, after=6 pt.
CITING SOURCES
Citations should be prepared in accordance with "APA 7 Referencing Guidelines". For detailed information, please refer to the "Article Template".
INTRODUCTION
In the "Introduction" section, you should identify that there is a knowledge gap in the topic you have chosen and then explain why you intend to fill this gap and why. What should be written in the introduction is the introduction of the problem, the importance of the problem, related research in the literature, the hypotheses and the research design that is compatible with the hypotheses.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
This is the section where the key concepts used in the articles and the relationships between these concepts are presented in a pattern from general to specific, and the relevant concepts for that study are defined and their boundaries are drawn. If necessary, this section can be combined with the introduction. In this section, it is essential to present the problem that leads to the research.
METHOD
In articles, it is important to use analyses that will provide the most appropriate solution to the research problem. In this section, every detail such as population, sample, scale creation, research period should be included.
FINDINGS
The data obtained by evaluating the questions or hypotheses in the research should be explained in a certain logical-analytical integrity and flow. Figures and tables can also be used in these explanations. Data should be analyzed with appropriate statistical methods.
CONCLUSION, DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
General results are expressed clearly and concisely. The repetition of the statements given in the findings section should be avoided and more original statements should be included.
In the discussion section, comparisons are made with previous studies, inferences are made and differences can be interpreted.
Theoretical and practical recommendations are given depending on the conclusion and discussion section of the article.
REFERENCES
The sources used in the study are shown completely, paying attention to the alphabetical order.
Important Note: The Plagiarism Report is received by our journal team and added to the process files. Therefore, authors do not need to upload a Plagiarism Report to the system.

Publication Ethics Principles
Publication Ethics can be defined as a self-regulatory mechanism that insists on integrity on behalf of authors, reviewers and publishers to establish higher standards of editorial processing. Ethical standards for publication exist to ensure high-quality scientific publications, public trust in scientific findings, and respect for people's opinions.
- Honest researchers do not plagiarize.
- They do not misattribute sources.
- They do not hide objections they cannot refute.
- They do not distort opposing views.
- They do not destroy or hide data.
Peer-reviewed studies are studies that support and actualize the scientific method. At this point, it is of great importance that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, referees and editors) comply with ethical principles. Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research adheres to national and international standards of research and publication ethics. It complies with the Press Law, the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works and the Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of Higher Education Institutions. It has adopted the International Ethical Publishing Principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). It is also committed to abide by the decisions of the Turkish Editors' Workshop.

Replay
Republishing is the publication of the same article or substantially similar articles in more than one journal. The editor sends such an article back without review. Thereafter, the editor may embargo the attempted republication for a certain period of time, publicize it in the journal in which the author has previously published (perhaps in a simultaneous announcement with the editor of the journal that published the previous article), or apply all of these measures together.

Simultaneous Submission of the Same Work to More Than One Journal
Authors may not submit the same article to more than one journal at the same time. If the editor learns of possible simultaneous submission, he/she reserves the right to consult with the other editor(s) receiving the manuscript. In addition, the editor may return the manuscript without review or reject the manuscript without considering the reviews, or take this decision in discussion with the other editor(s) involved, and may decide not to accept submissions from authors for a certain period of time. It may also write to the authors' employers or take all of these measures together.

Control to Prevent Plagiarism
It is to present the ideas, methods, data, applications, writings, figures or works of others as one's own work in whole or in part without citing the owners in accordance with scientific rules.
Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research screens all articles submitted to the journal to prevent plagiarism. Studies submitted for review are checked for plagiarism using Ithenticate software. The similarity rate is expected to be less than 15%.

Forgery
Producing data that is not based on research, editing or modifying the submitted or published work based on untrue data, reporting or publishing them, and presenting a research that has not been conducted as if it has been conducted.
Falsifying research records and data obtained, showing methods, devices and materials that were not used in the research as if they were used, evaluating data that do not comply with the research hypothesis, manipulating data and/or results to fit the relevant theory or assumptions, falsifying or shaping the research results in line with the interests of the persons and organizations supported.

Protection of Participants' Personal Data
Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research requires that all research involving personal or sensitive data or materials relating to human participants that are not legally publicly available be subject to formal ethical review.

Addressing Allegations of Research Misconduct
The editors of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research will take measures to prevent the publication of articles in which plagiarism, citation manipulation, data falsification, data fabrication, and other research misconduct have occurred. Under no circumstances will the editors of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research knowingly allow such misconduct to occur. In the event that the editors of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research become aware of any allegations of research misconduct related to a paper published in their journal, they will follow COPE's guidelines regarding allegations.

Ethical Violation Notifications
If readers notice a significant error or inaccuracy in an article published in Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research or have any complaints about the editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.), they can send an e-mail to catalhoyuk@selcuk.edu.tr / gulgunes@selcuk.edu.tr / sedaozdemir@selcuk.edu.tr. We welcome submissions and respond quickly and constructively, as they provide an opportunity for improvement.

Correction, Retraction, Expression of Concern
Editors may consider publishing a correction if minor errors are identified in the published article that do not affect the findings, interpretations and conclusions. Editors should consider retracting the manuscript if there are major errors/violations that invalidate the findings and conclusions. Editors should consider issuing a statement of concern if there is a possibility of research or publication misconduct by the authors; there is evidence that the findings are unreliable and that the authors' institutions have not investigated the incident; or the potential investigation seems unfair or inconclusive. COPE and ICJME guidelines for correction, retraction or expression of concern are followed.
- Publication of Studies Based on Surveys and Interviews
Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research adopts the Committee on Publication Ethics' (COPE) "Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers" in order to provide ethical assurance in scientific periodical publishing. In this context, the following points should be followed in the studies submitted to the journal:
- Ethics committee approval must be obtained for research in all disciplines that require ethics committee approval, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article.
- In studies requiring ethics committee approval, information about the approval (name of the committee, date and number) should be included in the method section, as well as on one of the first/last pages of the article; in case reports, information on the signing of the informed consent/assent form should be included in the article.

Special Issue Publication Policy
A special issue may be published once a year upon the request of the Editorial Board. Articles submitted for inclusion in the special issue are first subjected to a preliminary editorial review. Then, they are examined for compliance with the journal's spelling rules and similarity screening is performed to prevent plagiarism. After these stages, they are included in the peer review process using the double blind model.

Editorial Confidentiality Obligation
The editors of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents, which means that they will not disclose information about a manuscript to anyone without the authors' permission. During the manuscript review process, the following people have access to the manuscripts: Editors, Reviewers, Editorial Board Members. The only situation in which details about a manuscript may be passed to a third party without the authors' permission is if the editor suspects serious research misconduct.

Allegations-Suspicions of Scientific Misconduct
There are different definitions of scientific misconduct. Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research takes these issues on a case-by-case basis while following the guidance established by the major publication ethics bodies. If the editor suspects or alleges an ethical violation, they are obliged to take action. This duty extends to both published and unpublished articles. The editor should not simply reject articles raising concerns about possible misconduct. They are ethically obliged to follow up on alleged cases. The editor should follow COPE flowcharts where appropriate. Editors should first seek a response from those suspected of misconduct. If they are not satisfied with the response, they should ask the relevant employer or organization to investigate. The editor should make all reasonable efforts to ensure that an appropriate investigation into the alleged misconduct is conducted; if this fails, the editor should make all reasonable attempts to insist on a resolution to the problem. This is a laborious but important task.
Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research follows COPE's Ethical Toolkit for a Successful Editorial. The editors of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research will take measures to prevent the publication of articles in which plagiarism, citation manipulation, data falsification, data fabrication, and other research misconduct have occurred. Under no circumstances will Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research or its editors knowingly allow such misconduct to occur. In the event that the editors of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research become aware of any allegations of research misconduct in relation to an article published in their journal, they will follow COPE's guidelines regarding allegations.
Reviewers should inform the Editor if they suspect research or publication misconduct. The Editor is responsible for taking appropriate action in accordance with COPE recommendations.
Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research is committed to following the COPE flowcharts when faced with allegations of misconduct on the following or similar issues.

Grievance Procedure
This procedure applies to complaints about content, procedures or policies that are the responsibility of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research or our editorial staff. Complaints can provide an opportunity and incentive for improvement and we aim to respond quickly, courteously and constructively.
The complaint must relate to content, procedures or policies that are the responsibility of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research or our editorial team. Complaints should be emailed directly to catalhoyuk@selcuk.edu.tr / gulgunes@selcuk.edu.tr / sedaozdemir@selcuk.edu.tr and will be treated confidentially. The editor will respond to complaints immediately. The editor follows the procedure outlined in the COPE flowchart regarding complaints.
Complaints are reviewed by the relevant member of the editorial team and, if not resolved, the following processes are followed:
- If this initial response is deemed inadequate, the complainant may request that the complaint be escalated to a more senior member of the journal.
- If the complainant is not satisfied, the complaint may be forwarded to the editor-in-chief.
- A full response will be provided within two weeks, if possible.
COPE publishes a code of practice for editors of scientific journals. This will facilitate the resolution of disputes with editors, journals and publishers, but only after the journal's own complaints procedures have been exhausted.

Appeal Process
We welcome serious objections to the evaluations made by editors and reviewers. If you feel that we have rejected your paper because we misunderstood its scientific content, please send an appeal message to our editorial team at catalhoyuk@selcuk.edu.tr / gulgunes@selcuk.edu.tr / sedaozdemir@selcuk.edu.tr. Do not attempt to submit a revised version of your article at this stage. If, after reading your appeal letter, we realize that your appeal is justified, we may invite you to submit a revised version of your manuscript. Your paper will then be resubmitted to the external reviewer process. Please include as much detail as possible in the appeal letter. Finally, we can only consider one appeal per article, so please take the time and effort to write a detailed letter to make your appeal clear - you have one chance, so use it well. We have found that prolonged deliberation over rejected papers is often unsatisfying for both authors and editors, so we do not process multiple appeals for the same study.

Conflicts of Interest
A conflict of interest occurs when professional judgment about a primary interest may be influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain or personal competition). We believe that we need to know the competing interests of the authors in order to make the best decision about how to handle an article, and that readers need to know them if we publish the article.
Any interest, financial or otherwise, that may cause one to be conflicted in one's work, significantly impair one's objectivity, or give an unfair advantage to any person or organization. All sources of financial support received during the conduct of the research and preparation of the manuscript and the role of sponsors in the study should be disclosed. If there is no source of funding, this should also be indicated. Examples of potential conflicts of interest that should be disclosed include consultancies, salaries, grants. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest possible stage.
Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research has a set process for handling submissions from editors, staff or editorial board members to ensure impartial review. Such submissions are first referred to other journals. If this is not possible, the owner of the submission is suspended from the journal. These submissions are reviewed in a double blind process.
The editor should not be involved in decisions about manuscripts written by him/herself or family members. Furthermore, such a paper should be subject to all the usual procedures of the journal. The editor should follow ICMJE guidelines on disclosure of potential conflicts of interest by authors and reviewers.

Principles of Research Ethics
- Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research observes the highest standards in research ethics and adopts the international research ethics principles defined below. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that the articles comply with ethical rules.
- The principles of integrity, quality and transparency should be ensured in the design, review of the design and conduct of the research.
- The research team and participants should be fully informed about the purpose of the research, its methods and possible anticipated uses, and the requirements and risks, if any, of participation in the research.
- Confidentiality of information provided by research participants and confidentiality of respondents must be ensured. The research should be designed to protect the autonomy and dignity of participants.

- Research participants should take part in the research voluntarily and should not be under any coercion.
- Harm to participants should be avoided. The research should be planned in a way that does not put participants at risk.
- Research independence must be clear and explicit; any conflict of interest must be disclosed.
- In experimental studies with human subjects, the written informed consent of the participants who decide to participate in the research must be obtained. Consent must be obtained from the legal guardian of children and those under guardianship or with a confirmed mental illness.
- If the study will be conducted in any institution or organization, approval must be obtained from this institution or organization that the study will be conducted.
- In studies with a human element, it should be stated in the "method" section that "informed consent" was obtained from the participants and ethics committee approval was obtained from the institution where the study was conducted.
- Article Evaluation Principles
- Manuscripts that have not been published before or are not currently under review for publication in another journal and approved by each author are accepted for evaluation.
- Submitted and pre-checked manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin & Ithenticate software
- It conducts a double blind review process. All manuscripts will first be evaluated by the editor for suitability for the journal. Eligible manuscripts are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the manuscript.
- The Editor-in-Chief evaluates manuscripts independently of the ethnicity, gender, nationality, religious beliefs and political philosophy of the authors. He/she ensures that manuscripts submitted for publication undergo fair double blind peer review.
- The editor-in-chief does not allow conflicts of interest between authors, editors and reviewers.
- The editor is responsible for the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts. The editor's decision is final.
- Editors are not involved in decisions about manuscripts written by themselves or by family members or colleagues, or about products or services in which the editor has an interest. Any such submission is subject to all of the journal's usual procedures.
Reviewers must ensure that all information about submitted manuscripts remains confidential until the manuscript is published and must report to the editor if they discover any copyright infringement or plagiarism on the part of the author.
If the referee does not feel qualified to review the manuscript or is unlikely to be able to provide timely feedback, he/she should inform the editor and ask him/her not to involve him/her in the review process.
During the review process, the editor should make it clear to reviewers that manuscripts submitted for review are the private property of the authors and that this is a privileged communication. Reviewers and editorial board members may not discuss articles with other individuals. Care should be taken to keep the identity of the reviewers confidential.

Article Evaluation Process

- The Secretariat prepares a "Preliminary Evaluation Report" within 5 days at the latest from the date of submission of the article and sends it to the editor (Corresponding author can view this file within 5 days).
- Within 5 days after the editor accepts the article, he/she reviews the article by taking into account the "Preliminary Evaluation Report", indicates his/her review in the article file and uploads it to the system. In this process, he/she may reject the article, send it to the author to make the necessary corrections, or send it to the "Field Editor" as an indication that it has been evaluated. Generally, the acceptance or rejection decision of the article is made within 10 days from the first submission.
- The Area Editor reviews the article in the system, indicates his/her notes, if any, and sends it to 2 different referees within 8 days (The whole process is carried out according to the blind refereeing system). The relevant referees are given 5 days to accept to be a referee. Within 5 days, the referees who accept the evaluation are given 15 days to complete the evaluation. Within this period, they complete their evaluation and upload their "evaluation report" to the system. The field editor reviews the requested corrections or recommendations on the same day (adding his/her own notes, if any) and sends them to the corresponding author for revision. The corresponding author fulfills the corrections or recommendations within 10 days and uploads the edited full-text document and the "Response to Reviewer, Revision Form" to the system (as an attachment file).
- The revisions are checked by the field editor and the referees. If the specified edits are not realized, the process repeats. If it is decided that the revisions are appropriate, the manuscript is sent to the language editor (language editor processing time is 10 days).
-If the language editor requests an edit, the corresponding author is given 3 days to make the necessary edits. After the edits are made and checked, the article is sent to the layout editor in the next step and the layout editor finalizes the article within 3 days and publishes the article on the early view page.

Editor Responsibility
- The Editor evaluates manuscripts for scientific content without regard to the ethnicity, gender, citizenship, religious beliefs or political opinions of the authors.
- The editor conducts fair double-blind peer review of manuscripts submitted for publication and ensures that all information about submitted manuscripts is kept confidential before publication.
- The editor informs the reviewers that the manuscripts are confidential and that this is a privileged interaction. Reviewers and the editorial board cannot discuss manuscripts with other people. The anonymity of reviewers must be ensured. In certain cases, the editor may share a reviewer's review with other reviewers to clarify a particular point.
- The editor is responsible for the content and overall quality of the publication. It is also his/her responsibility to issue a correction note or retraction when necessary.
- The editor does not allow any conflict of interest between authors, editors and reviewers. He/she has full authority only to appoint referees, and the Editorial Board is responsible for the final decision regarding the publication of manuscripts in the journal.

Author Responsibility
- The author must comply with research and publication guidelines.
- The author should not attempt to publish the same work in more than one journal.
- The author should indicate the works used in the writing of the article in the bibliography.
- Referee Responsibility
- Reviewers should not have any conflicts of interest related to the research, the authors and/or the research funders.
- The reviewers' evaluations should be objective.
- The language and style used by the referees should not offend the author.
- Reviewers should ensure that all information regarding submitted manuscripts remains confidential until the manuscript is published.
- Reviewers should notify the editor if they notice copyright infringement or plagiarism in the work they review.
- A reviewer who feels inadequate to review a manuscript or who feels that he/she cannot complete the review in the allotted time should withdraw from the review process.
- During the review process, reviewers are expected to consider the following points: Does the article contain new and important information? / Does the abstract clearly and accurately describe the content of the article? / Is the methodology described in a coherent and understandable manner? / Are the interpretations and conclusions supported by the findings? / Are there sufficient references to other studies in the field? / Is the language quality adequate?

Publication Fee Policy
The publication of articles in the journal and the execution of article processes are not subject to any fee. No processing or submission fee is charged for articles submitted to the journal or accepted for publication.
- Authorship in Publication Based on Graduate Thesis Work
Articles based on master's or doctoral theses should be indicated by the authors at the submission stage. In articles based on master's or doctoral theses, the student who prepared the thesis and the advisor (second legal advisor, if any) are considered as the natural authors of the article. The thesis student is the first author. The thesis advisor is listed as the second author, and the second advisor faculty member, if any, is listed as the third author.

Withdrawal of the Article
The author/authors have the right to withdraw their manuscript before it is submitted for peer review.

Author Change
Only the article is processed before acceptance. Authors should carefully review the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the final author list at the time of original submission (Author changes must be notified to the secretariat as a message through the journal system).

Ethics Committee Approval
For research in all disciplines that require ethics committee approval (ethics committee approval must be obtained, this approval must be stated and documented in the article. For research that requires ethics committee approval, information about the approval (name of the committee, date and number) must be included in the method section, as well as in the references section of the article on the previous page.

All expenses of Çatalhöyük International Journal of Tourism and Social Research are covered by the publisher. The publication of articles in the journal and the execution of article processes are not subject to any fee. No processing or submission fee is charged for articles submitted to the journal or accepted for publication.
